Hi, I've got a problem.
I'm sitting here in my rocking chair sucking in oxygen 24/7. That's not the problem. I have a lot of time on my hands and I spend it reading about dumb things. The dumbest thing so far is the attempt by a Texas company to mess up my way of life. Not only my way of life, but my friends, neighbors and the lives of everyone in the Finger Lakes.
Welcome to Schuyler County, New York
Near the village of Watkins Glen there are a few man made holes under the ground under or on the shores of Seneca Lake. They are called salt cavities. Now, this Texas company known as Crestwood wants to fill up the holes with Liquid Petroleum Gas. Then they want to load tank trucks twenty four hours a day and drive them through our county. Oh, that's not all, they want to build six new side rails so they can load rail cars and ship this fracked gas out of the area. Lots of rail cars and lots of trucks everyday.
The people in the county and in our neighboring counties are pissed. People all around the state are upset. We are a tourist and agricultural county. We are in the center of the beautiful Finger Lakes. We have world class wineries vineyards and farms. Most people that don't have a personnel interest in fracking are totally against this project.
In comes the chairman of the Schuyler County Legislature and a few of his boys. Dennis Fagan the chairman was the owner of Fagan Engineers until a couple years ago when he sold his company to his younger brother and other partners. He voted against the people and for the gas company. His former company Fagan Engineers worked for clients in the gas fracking business and in the pipeline business. I'm sure his brother still does. Fagan says he has no conflict of interest. We are supposed to believe it. Really, well, we don't. Not unless he hates his brother and his former partners. His vote was in their favor and against the very people that he represents. Has he no ethics? I am going to write more on this problem but it's time to do some rocking. Thanks for reading,
Rocking Chair Wally.
